Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Tech Gear (“Tech Gear”, “we”, “us”) for your use of the Word Editor app, its widgets, Share extension and Siri shortcuts (together, the “App”), and the online services the App connects to (the “Services”).

By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1The App

Word Editor lets you create, open, edit, convert, scan, translate, listen to, organise and share documents, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and text files. Most features work entirely on your device. Sharing and live collaboration use our Services and need an internet connection. We may add, change or remove features over time.

2Eligibility and accounts

• You must be old enough to agree to these Terms where you live, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
• You can use the App without an account. To share and collaborate, you sign in with Apple. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your device secure.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Account › Delete Account. This deletes the documents you have shared and removes you from documents others shared with you.

3Free use, Premium and subscriptions

Many features are free. Certain tools, such as file conversions and other Premium tools, include a limited number of free uses each day, which reset at local midnight. Some features are available only with Premium. Opening, editing, saving and sharing documents in their own format stay free. We may change which features are free or Premium, and the number of free uses.

Auto-renewable subscriptions

Premium is offered as auto-renewable subscriptions, for example weekly and yearly plans. The plans, prices and any introductory offer are shown in the App before you buy, and may vary by country.

• Payment. Charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
• Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the same price and for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Introductory offers. An introductory offer (for example a reduced first-week price) applies only once per Apple ID. After it ends, the subscription renews at the regular price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the offer ends. If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is lost when you buy a subscription.
• Manage or cancel in your device’s Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, or in the App Store. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Price changes. If a price changes, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree before renewing.
• New device or reinstall? Use Restore Purchases in Settings or on the Premium screen.

4Your content

• You own the documents and other content you create, import or share in the App (“Your Content”). We claim no ownership of it.
• Your Content on your device stays there. When you share a document, you give us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display and process that content only as needed to provide the feature to you and the people you share with. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for a short time for backup or legal reasons.
• You confirm that you have the rights needed to use, upload and share Your Content, and that doing so does not break any law or anyone else’s rights.
• You are responsible for backing up Your Content. Files stored only in the App are removed if you delete the App, and we cannot recover them.

5Sharing and collaboration

• When you share a document, you choose who can open it and what they can do (edit, comment or view), and whether a link works for anyone who has it. Anyone who has access can see the document and its members, and may download or keep copies. Removing access stops future access but cannot recall copies already made.
• The owner of a shared document controls its sharing, and can stop sharing or delete it at any time, which removes it for everyone.
• Please share only content you are allowed to share, and respect other people’s documents and privacy.

6AI features

• Features labelled AI, such as AI Translate and AI Read Aloud, use automated systems. Their results can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. Please review the results before you rely on them, especially for legal, medical, financial or other important matters.
• You are responsible for what you use AI features on and for how you use the results. Do not use them to create unlawful, harmful or misleading content.

7Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the App or Services to break any law, or to infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
• Upload or share content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, hateful or sexually exploitative, or that contains malware.
• Use share links, invitations or notifications to send spam or unwanted messages.
• Access other people’s documents or accounts without permission, or try to get around access controls, free-use limits or subscription checks.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, except where the law allows it.
• Overload, disrupt or attack our Services, or scrape or access them by automated means other than through the App.

We may remove content or suspend access to the Services if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

8Our intellectual property

The App and Services, including their software, design, templates, graphics and branding, belong to Tech Gear and its licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as allowed by these Terms and the App Store’s Usage Rules.

You may use the built-in templates in documents you create. You may not resell, redistribute or sublicense the App, or its templates on their own.

Word Editor is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. All other trademarks belong to their owners.

9Third-party services

The App uses services from third parties, including Apple (Sign in with Apple, purchases and notifications) and Google (analytics, crash reporting and on-device translation models). Your use of those services is also subject to their terms. Links to other websites or communities in the App are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.

10Disclaimers

The App and Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure. We also do not promise that every file will open, convert or display exactly as it does in other software, or that Your Content will never be lost or damaged. Please keep backups of important files.

11Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Tech Gear will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the App or Services.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the App or Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50.

Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

12Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover Tech Gear for any claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from Your Content or from your breach of these Terms.

13Suspension and termination

You can stop using the App at any time, and you can delete your account in the App. We may suspend or end your access to the Services if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering a Service. Where reasonable, we will tell you in advance.

Sections 4 (as to copies kept for backup or legal reasons), 8, 10, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply after termination.

14Apple App Store terms

• These Terms are between you and Tech Gear only, not Apple. Tech Gear, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
• If the App does not meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
• Tech Gear, not Apple, is responsible for any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims. Tech Gear is also responsible for investigating, defending and settling any claim that the App infringes a third party’s intellectual property.
• You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
• Where these Terms do not cover something, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.

15Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live give you the right to bring a claim in your local courts under your local laws.

Before starting any formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

16Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the effective date at the top of this page and, if the changes are significant, tell you in the App before they apply. If you keep using the App after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the App and cancel any subscription.

17General

If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it. You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the App.
